RAF Abyad was home to two different units one was called 109MU and the other was called HEADQUARTERS 205 GROUP the latter being living quarters only,service personnel were driven a couple of miles or so down the road for duty on HEADQUARTERS 205 GROUP situated between RAF Abyad & RAF Fayid
109MU Personnel were employed for duty actually on the RAF Abyad site

"posted to abyad from kabrit apr 1950,worked on valetta's preparing them for vip's joined abyad basketball team made up of Polish airman.got caught in typhoid epidemic august,consequently got invalided home nov 1950.because of my illness didn't really have time to get to know many personnel,my trade was aircraft finisher "
