RAF Weathersfield

Dates: 1944 -

RAF Wethersfield is a British Ministry of Defence training centre, located in Essex, England. Originally, it was hoped that the airfield would open at the end of 1942. However, delays due to shortages of material meant that it could not open until 1944.

It was used by the United States Army Air Force and Royal Air Force between 1944 and 1946. The outbreak of the Cold War caused it to become opened again in 1952. It became a front line North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) Air Base.
