The Command Medical Equipt Depot Singapore was located at Tanjong Berlayer close to Merchant Ships docks (The Ben Line was used a lot from UK) and there were numerous Phillipino workers as well as RAMC staff. RAMC staff were camped several miles away up the East Coast opposite a Malay village located in Pasir Panjang. In 1958/9 the unit was commanded by Major Barnes with Capt Rowson as No.2
