The 53rd (Welsh) Division



53rd welsh division
The 53rd (Welsh) Division was a Territorial unit which first saw service during the Great War of 1914-1918.It didnt see active service in the Second World War until being landed on the Normandy Beaches late in June 1944, as one of the reinforcing units after the main Normandy Landings. The Division then fought in the break out of the Normandy Beachhead, through occupied France and Belgium into Holland liberated s-Hertogenbosch october 1944, and crossed the Rhine into Germany in 1945.
