Mobile Catering Support Unit



MCSU was formed in August 1975 as a sub unit of RAF Benson at Watlington. It was run by a W.O. (Jim Hedger) 2x Sgt, 3x Cpl & 12x SAC there was also a cpl supplier.Mcsu moved onto Benson main camp 2 years later.

It was formed from MCF (Mobile Catering Flight) which was to support TCW at Tangmere. After OP KANA CASCADE in the Nepal region it was decided to expand MCF Which was a Flt Sgt, Cpl & 2 SACs to as previously mentioned.

In the early days it supported 1, 6 & 54 Sqns,TCW,TSW mainly in the Northern European Theatres.

Mobile catering support unit ( MCSU) was renamed No 3 Mobile catering Squadron (3 MCS) in 2008
