Fitting Party RAF Eastleigh Nairobi

Dates: 1951 -

The Party was under the direction of 90 Group Medmanham Bucks and was set up in Kenya to replace the middle east signals in the Canal Zone.

Here were three sites, Signals Centre Nairobi, Transmitting station Ruiru and Receiving station at Kahawa. it was under the direct control, on sight, of a civilian firm --Standard Telephones/Cables? It became operational in 1955 and the admin side was led by a commanding officer named Oates. Aircraft on active service were 41 squadron operating Lincolns, Harvards and later Meteors.
