HMAS Vendetta

Dates: 1933 - 1979

Two HMAS Vendetta’s have served the RAN.
The original was HMS Vendetta, a V class detroyer built for the Royal Navy in 1917 and transferred to the RAN in 1933.
She was paid off to reserve in Jan 1934 but recommissioned in Oct 1934. Reserve in June 1938, recommissioned in Sept 1938 and served in the Mediterranean. She participitated in the Battle of Cape Matapan and was involved in the evacuation of Greece in 1941. She was paid for disposal in 1945 and scuttled in 1948 off Sydney Heads.
The second HMAS Vendetta, a Daring Class destroyer, was commissioned in 1958 and decommissioned in 1979, during her service she served in Vietnam.
