Household Cavalry Regiment Mounted

Dates: 1795 -

The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment is a ceremonial cavalry regiment in the British Army. It carries out mounted ceremonial duties at State and Royal Occasions and are classed as a regiment of guards.

The regiment takes part in many occasions. These include the Queen’s Birthday Parade every year in June, and a Staircase Party inside Buckingham Palace when the Queen or Prince of Wales gives out military awards such as the Victoria Cross.

The regiment has been based in several forms in Knightsbrige since 1795. It also has a Musical Ride, which has performed at agricultural shows since the 1880s. It demonstrates the skills that were required by cavalry in times of war.
