HMS Hedingham Castle

Dates: 1944 - 1958

The H.M.S HEDINGHAM CASTLE was a sole named Corvette ship, which belonged to the ’Castle Corvettes’ class of ships.

The ship had a displacement of 1010 Tons and was launched from the Crown shipyard, on 30/10/1944.

The Castle Class Corvettes were a much improved vessel to the Flower class Corvettes The improved length designed by William Reed of Smith’s Dock made these more suitable for Atlantic Weather conditions.

The ship arrived at Granton for breaking up in April 1958.
