Royal Engineers Trials and Development Unit (RETDU). RETDU are the Corps’ focus for trials and development. They ensure new equipments meets user and system requirements and are fit for role and purpose. All RE equipment that comes into service has been extensively trialed by the RETDU team. RETDU support development of military equipment and manufacturers’ publications and suppport other HQ EinC(A) branches in the development of training. RETDU maintain an overwatch of active emerging technology, commercial off the shelf product and military development through their links with research organisations, industry and allied engineers In March 2004, the first prototype Trojan was delivered to the Royal Engineers Trials and Development Unit (RETDU) at Bovington. The vehicle, was to undergo a 10-month demonstration trials period – with a second vehicle due to be delivered to British units in Germany for climatic trials.
