| HMS Argus |
Dates: 1918 - 1944 HMS Argus was a British aircarft carrier, and was the first example of a flush deck carrier allowing wheeled aircraft to take off. She was originally intended as the Italien ocean line Conte Rosso. She missed the end of the First World War and had limited use as a combat vessel, during the end of the 1920’s she operated as training carrier, a role she continued into the start of the Second World War. Due to heavy carrier losses she was moved to an operational role in 1941, mainly operating in the Mediterranean as a fighter ferry. In 1942 she provided air support to operations around Malta and Allied landings in 1943 in North Africa. She was moved to reserve as an accommodation vessel in 1944 and scrapped in 1946.
