Adjutant General Corps Military Provost Guard Service

Dates: 1997 -

Formed from the Royal Military Police and under the duristiction of the Adjutant Generals office.

The Military Provost Guard Service (MPGS) provides trained professional soldiers to meet defence armed security requirements in units of all three Services based in Great Britain. Stationed at over 80 units, the MPGS have their own Military Local Service Contract which allows soldiers to choose where they wish to serve, providing there is a vacancy.

MPGS provide armed guard protection of units, responsible for control of entry, foot and mobile patrols and armed response to attacks on their unit.
