Admiralty Development Establishment Barrow

Dates: 1946 - 1964

The Admiralty Development Establishment was a civilian establishment with the Vickers Armstrong shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness.

It was commissioned by the Admiralty to conduct research and development into submarine propulsion systems.

The establishment initially worked on Hydrogen Peroxide systems moving on to dockside facilities for nuclear vessels.

The Admiralty Development Establishment was disbanded by the Admiralty in 1964.
