Dates: 1960 - 1984 The Admiralty Underwater Weapons Establishment was formed from the amalgamation of the Underwater Detection establishment, Underwater Countermeasures and Weapons Establishments and the Torpedo Experimental Establishment. It was designed to be a single development center for the design, experimenting and testing underwater weapons and detection systems. It was renamed in 1984 as the Admiralty Research Establishment.
