| HMS Bleasdale |
  Dates: 1942 - 1953 Type III ’Hunt’ Class Escort Destroyer built by Vickers Armstrong at Newcastle commissioned on 16th April 1942 and joined 1st Destroyer Flotilla for convoy defence and patrol duties in Channel. She took part in the Dieppe Raid - Operation Jubilee - in July 1942 and sustained minor damage while providing defence during the return passage of landing craft. That Autumn, she suffered damage when she was mined off the Nab Tower. On completion of repairs in Portsmouth Dockyard, she was assigned to escort duty with military Convoy to Gibraltar for allied landings in North Africa - Operation Torch. At the Normandy landings, she provided Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Submarine defence as well as naval gunfire support for the assault on Juno landing beach. In Spring 1945, HMS Bleasdale was attached to the 18th Destroyer Flotilla at Trincomalee. During April 1947 she participated in destruction of the German fortifications at Heligoland. She was placed on the Disposal List in 1953 and sold on 12th September 1956 for demolition at Blyth.
