  Dates: 1827 - 1968 The Royal Irish Fusiliers was an infantry regiment of the British Army. It was formed in 1793 and gained the title the Royal Irish Fusiliers in 1827. The regiment had done a signficant ammount of service in the Napoleonic Wars. It is also famous for its dedication in the First World War. Two members of the regiment were awarded the Victoria Cross. The two soldiers were Private Robert Marrow in 1915 and Lieutenant St George Shillington Cather. In 1968, it amalgamated with The Royal Ulster Rifles and The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers to form the Royal Irish Rangers.
