Dates: 1966 - 1983 RFA Stromness (A344) was a fleet stores ship of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. In the early 1980s the ship was bought by the United States. Acquired on charter by United States Military Sealift Command in April 1983 and was renamed USNS SATURN(T-AFS 10). Purchased by USMSC on 1 October 1983. Fitted with a flight deck but no hangar facilities until purchased by USMSC.
