The regiment was formed by the merging of the 43rd Regiment of Foot (Light Infantry) and the 52nd Regiment of Foot (Light Infantry), forming the 1st and 2nd Battalions, The Oxfordshire Light Infantry in 1881.In 1908 the title of the regiment was changed to the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, often shortened to the now famous ’Ox and Bucks’ regiment.
