| Norfolk Regiment |
Dates: 1881 - The Norfolk Regiment was created in July 1881, to represent the county of Norfolk in the British Army. In June 1935, it gained the acolade ’Royal’. The regiment served in the First World War, the Second World War, the Far East and Cyprus. They held an anniversary every year on the 25th April to celebrate victory at the Battle of Almnza, which had been won by their predecessors the 9th Regiment of Foot. Eventually, the regiment amalgamated with its neighbours the Suffolk Regiment. They are now known as the Royal Anglian Regiment.
