HMS Loring

Dates: 1943 - 1947

The H.M.S LORING was a sole named Destroyer ship, which belonged to the ’CAPTAIN CLASS FRIGATES (first group) - Ex US GMT’ class of ships.

She was named after Sir J Loring of the Niobe 1805.

The ship had a displacement of 1190 Tons and was launched from the Boston Navy Yard, on 30/08/1943.

The ship was on Lend Lease from the US Navy and was nominally returned to USN on 07/01/1947, It later left Preston for Greece for breaking up on 27/03/1947.
