| Trident Tankers |
 
1962 P&O Group consolidated their combined tanker fleets as Trident Tankers. 1970 P&O Bulk Shipping Division, took over Trident Tankers, Hain-Nourse, Associated Bulk Carriers, Panocean and Mundo Gas. August 1971 P&O Bulk Shipping elements merged as one. Twentieth is 1962 Trident Tankers Ltd, a P&O venture aimed at getting a share of the growing tanker market and quickly becoming the largest independent oil carrier of that period. In the beginning of the seventies, rationalization measures led to the company being absorbed by the P&O Bulk Shipping Division.
