 Dates: 1835 - 1982 Established in 1835 by three Lancashire brothers for the transportation of sugar from their plantations in Demerara to the UK. Despite the loss of ships in both World Wars the company continued to operate with the use of chartered vessels cumulating in a unbroken service record of nearly 150 years. The company ceased trading in 1982 with the final vessel Booker Challenge being sold in 1983
