HMAS Hawkesbury

HMAS Hawkesbury (M 83) is the second Huon class minehunter to have been built for the the Royal Australian Navy and is also the second warship to be named after the Hawkesbury River in New South Wales. Hawkesbury was built by Australian Defence Industries in Newcastle, New South Wales, launched 24 April 1998, and commissioned 12 February 2000. Hawkesbury is based at HMAS Waterhen in Sydney with the majority of the RAN’s mine warfare assets.
