Princess Louises (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders)

The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders was an infantry regiment of the British Army. It was part of the Scottish Division. It was formed in 1881, by the amalgamation of the 91st (Princess Louise’s Argyllshire) Regiment and the 93rd, (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment. They had the largest cap badge in the British Army.

The regiment served during the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, Suez and the Falklands. Sixteen members were awarded the Victoria Cross between 1857 and 1950.

In 2004, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders amalgamated with other Scottish infantry regiments to form The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
