HMS St. James

Dates: 1946 - 1953

HMS St. James (D65) was a Battle-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was built by Fairfield Shipbuilder & Engineering Company at Govan and commissioned on the 12 July 1946. Complement: 308.

St. James joined the 5th Destroyer Flotilla, part of the Home Fleet.

In 1950, St. James deployed on a Home Fleet Spring Cruise, visiting the Mediterranean and making several stops in Italy.

In 1953, St. James was placed in Reserve along with a number of her sister-ships. In 1957, St. James finally began a refit to modernise her, but the following year, her refit was cancelled, and she was subsequently placed on the disposal list. St. James was broken up in 1961 in Newport.
