HMAS Duchess

Dates: 1964 - 1977

HMAS Duchess (D154) was a Daring-class destroyer laid down by John I. Thornycroft and Company of Woolston at Southampton on 2 July 1948 as HMS Duchess (D154). She was launched on 9 April 1951 and commissioned into the British Royal Navy on 23 October 1952. Complement: 297

She was loaned to the Royal Australian Navy on 8 May 1964 following the loss of Voyager, and purchased by Australia in 1972. Duchess, paid off on 27 October 1977, was sold for scrap on 7 May 1980.
