| 16/5 Queens Royal Lancers |
  Dates: 1961 - 1964 16th/5th The Queen’s Royal Lancers B and C squadrons, Falaise camp until December 1964 then to Aliwal barracks, Tidworth. The Squadrons alternated on a three monthly basis between Aden and Bahrain. Recce Troop 16/5 The Queen’s Royal Lancers Attached to 4 RTR for upcountry action. The troop was on the initial move upcountry and worked closely with the KOSB, East Anglian, 45 Commando, Paras and Engineers. The Troop gave close support to the Paras, KOSB and did the mine runs every morning. The Regiment spent their time moving from Aden to the Gulf on the tank landing ships HMS Striker and HMS Anso. The troop worked out of Munks and Paddies field and on Table Top. The Troop also has a small base in the FRG camp at Dala across the valley from 45 Commando’s base. When 4RTR left Aden the Troop was attached to the 10 Hussars for a short period.
