School of Infantry



A School of Infantry provides training in weapons and infantry tactics to infantrymen of a nation’s military forces.

Schools of infantry include:

Australia

Australian Army - School of Infantry, Lone Pine Barracks at Singleton, NSW.
United Kingdom

British Army - Infantry Training Centre, at Brecon, Wales.
United States

U.S. Army - Infantry Training Brigade at Fort Benning, Georgia.
U.S. Marine Corps School of Infantry - SOI(West) at Camp Pendleton, California; SOI(East) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

" Hi David Yeah, I think it was Netheravon back then. It’s still used as the main UK Parachute centre for Free Fall. Also at Netheravon is the School of Infantry for Support Weapons, (ie) Mortars, Anti Tank and Recce. I was on a Mortar course there back in 1987 when we had that freak hurricane in the UK. Spent most of the night clearing trees and debris off the local roads. Yogi.   "

" Hi, I have just joined here and have no idea what I’m doing! I was in 94 Bty 45 Field between 1989 and 1994 and was known as Kingy (Michael King). Left there in 1994 and went to 39 Regiment til 1995 then went onto the school of infantry in Warminster. Left the Army in 1997. I would really like to hear from anyone who remembers me "
