| HMS Gosling |

Added on 07/06/2010HMS Gosling actually consisted of six separate camps (Gosling 1 to 6) situated near Warrington. After a few days initial registration at camps like HMS Royal Arthur for example we raw recruits were posted to Gosling for a period of 12 weeks with the intention of turning us into passable potential sailors with a full understanding of Naval history, tradition and Kings Regulations and Admiralty Instructions prior to being posted for technical training etc. Camp 6 was principley used to assemble large groups of people (drafts)after technical training and kitting them out prior to being posted to ships or air stations abroad. Part of Camp 4 was used to provide initial basic training to aspiring young officers mostly Midshipmen but occasionally reasonably high ranking officers, Commanders, etc were sent there for disciplinary re-training following some misdemeanour, usually low flying or similar.
