Scotia is now one of the largest RNR Units in the country, with strength of 40 Officers and 100 ratings. The Scotia catchment area is basically the entire East Coast of Scotland, which draws its recruits from all backgrounds from the financial, academic, light and heavy industries through to the service sector. The catchment area also includes seven Universities and many colleges that make a rich pool for the recruitment of lively young people and a strong cadre of potential Officers. This pool of recruits, combined with two strong naval recruiting grounds in Edinburgh and Dundee, gives Scotia a particularly strong edge in manpower within the RNR. Scotia also has a satellite unit in the form of Tay Division based in Dundee.
