| RAF Norton |
Dates: 1939 - 1958 Not an airfield but one of three bomb stores in Lincolnshire. Known as an FFD - Forward Filling Depot - the site was originally named RAF Swinderby, but changed to RAF Norton when the nearby airfield opened. The site, north of the A46 and close to Morton Hall, opened in 1939 and closed in 1958. The resident unit was 93 MU. The station supplied bombs, ammunition and oxygen to the Lincolnshire bomber airfields, along with South Witham (100 MU) and Market Stainton (233 MU). Today very little remains that is visible from public access points. An entrance, picket post and across the road from the western boundary, what is believed to be the administration site.
