HMS Rame Head

HMS Rame Head is a Canadian built World War 2 "Fort" Class merchant cargo ship. During World War 2 the vessel acted as a lifeline to Britain as part of the Atlantic convoys that brought much needed food and war materials from North America to the UK.

HMS Rame Head is the Canadian version of a Liberty Ship - the Fort/Park and was used as an RN floating workshop before taking on a static role at HMS Excellent. Powered by a single 2500 hp VTE engine with two water tube boilers. The vessel is still malingering in Fareham Creek but is very likely to end up as either scrap or an artificial reef.
