| HMS Olympus |
Dates: 1962 - 1989 HMS Olympus was an Oberon-class submarine in the Royal Navy, and later Canadian Forces. She was laid down 4 March 1960 at Vickers-Armstrongs at Barrow and launched 14 June 1961. HMS Olympus (S12) was sold in 1989 to Canada and was stationed as a training boat in Halifax. The ship was not commissioned. In 2002, the Canadian Government disposals agency offered the Submarine Heritage Centre - a registered charity set up to create a submarine- themed visitor centre at Barrow, the exclusive opportunity to bid for Olympus.
