| HMS Loch Fada |
  Dates: 1944 - 1970 Twin Screw Fast frigate ordered on 19th January 1943 from John Brown Clydebank and laid down on 8th June 1943 as Job number 1614 (Yard Number 6147. The was Lead Ship of the LOCH Class and her builder was deliberately selection as John Brown had a long history of building ships for the Admiralty and the introduction of new build techniques could be easily supervised by the local Naval Overseer. The ship was launched on 14th December by Miss Patricia Piggott and build was completed on 10th April 1944 and was the 1st RN ship to carry this name. She was adopted by the civil community of Eastleigh, Hampshire after the loss of HM Corvette ASPHODEL which had been allocated in December 1941 after a WARSHIP WEEK National Savings campaign.
